It is not often but the existing Swine Flu is compared to the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918 and 1919. This pandemic resulted in the deaths of more than 50 million people globally including over 500,000 deaths in the USA alone. This became one of the deadliest cold viruses ever known to mankind. By extracting 1918 influenza was capable of sickening and becoming fatal to a person within 24 hours. This H1N1 type A influenza has symptoms which are similar to the influenza but much more severe than any Influenza previously known, type A, B or C. This viral pneumonia leads to respiratory distress and eventually lead to the death of the patient.
DNA brought the 1918 influenza back to life as the virus was reconstituted using frozen tissue from a woman who died from the virus in 1918. No doubt this was in an attempt to find a cure but many believe that it is the cause of the latest dreaded disease - Swine Flu.
Unlike type A, B and C seasonal influenza, most deaths did not occur in the elderly and infants below the ages of 2-years-old, more than 50% of the deaths attributed to 1918 pandemic affected adults 20 to 40-years-old. Doctors had theorized that sufferers over the age of 40 years had been exposed to a similar influenza strain flu that gave them some immunity. As the pandemic spread through the USA, public gatherings were almost outlawed to preclude infecting others as physicians could not yet formulate a cure.
However, the virus was able to cross the ocean with troops arriving to fight in Europe during World War I. Foreign troops soon became exposed to the virus and carried it back to their home countries starting new waves of infection. Watch the video below.
The moist, cool interior of a humidifier, which sprays mist into the air from a spinning disk, is a fertile breeding ground for mildew and disease-spreading microorganisms.
